Studio 3 of Television Maldives has never entertained such a memorable event in the history of Maldivian live telecasting as the recent performance by rock band FASY. Their dedicated fans filled Studio 3. Fans were stunned and stayed captivated during the mind-bending guitar pieces of the lead guitarist Faseeh. Ibrahim kept fans awestruck with his drum solos, complimented by Ali’s bass pieces that echoed the heartbeats of the cheering fans.

Due to the limited size of the TV studio, FASY’s performance was witnessed only by 400 fans. But each fan left with an autographed DVD and the vivid memory of the band’s live music. Through a raffle on the night one of the fans won an autographed guitar presented by Island Music (a store selling musical instruments in the Maldives).

This event lays the foundation for Maldivian musicians to perform their original music. Maldivian Minister Mauroof Jameel, himself a vocalist, was the chief guest for the night. He said that he was honoured to launch the DVD for the band FASY and that “rock music does not have any borders”.

The band would like to thank especially Television Maldives for giving them the opportunity to play at their studio and for opening the gateway for young and up-and-coming bands of the Maldives to perform their original compositions. Others without whose efforts this event would not have been possible include: Abdullah Saeed, Hailam, Mahu, Asim, Saif, Asrar, Nasrullhah, and Fathuhulla. The performance would have not been such a success the contribution from Fayid, the band’s preferred sound engineer, Andhu, the band’s official video and lighting engineer, Shuau, for his continuous technical support and the Fasy Live Production Team.

The band’s next appearance in Male’ will be at the concert organized by CQ magazine alongside a well known band in South Asia, Stigmata, on the 4th and 5th June 2006.
